Moving Your Website to the CRM: What You Need to Know
If you're thinking about using your CRM account to host your website, this guide will walk you through what is and isn’t possible, in plain language.
First, Let's Clear Up a Common Misunderstanding
You cannot transfer or import your existing website (like one built on Squarespace, WordPress, or Wix) directly into the CRM. The system does not have a tool to copy over your current website design, pages, or content.
If you want to have your website inside the CRM, you will need to rebuild it from scratch using the website tools provided inside your CRM account.
To make this easier, your CRM account includes ready-to-use website templates that you can customize for your business.
You CAN Move Your Domain
Your domain is your website's address — for example, “yourcompany.com.” Even though your website content can’t be moved over, you can point your domain to your new website after you've built it inside the CRM.
That means when someone types in your domain, they'll see the new version of your site you built inside the CRM.
Why We Recommend Using the CRM Templates and Domain Tools
We strongly recommend using the templates and tools provided inside your CRM for a few key reasons:
Faster Setup: The templates are built specifically for the CRM, so you don’t have to worry about formatting issues or missing elements.
Built-In Features: Everything works together — your website, forms, calendar, contact list, automations, and emails all live in one place.
Ongoing Support: We can support and troubleshoot issues more effectively when your site is built inside the CRM using our tools.
Optional New Domain: If you don’t have a domain yet or want a fresh start, you can purchase a new domain directly inside the CRM. This removes the hassle of connecting a domain from a third-party service.
Using the tools inside the CRM gives you a streamlined, beginner-friendly experience with everything under one roof — no technical headaches required.
What Are Your Options?
Option 1: Keep Using Your Current Website
If you're happy with the website you already have and don't want to rebuild it, you can leave it as is. No changes are required.
You can still use the CRM for everything else — like creating landing pages, collecting leads, building forms, or writing blog posts. These CRM pages will live on a separate address (called a subdomain), so they won’t interfere with your current website.
Think of it like adding extra pages for your business, while keeping your main website the same.
Option 2: Move Your Website to the CRM (By Rebuilding It)
If you want your entire website to live in the CRM, here’s what you’ll need to do:
Rebuild Your Website in the CRM
Use the website builder inside your CRM account. You can start from scratch or pick a template to customize.Point Your Domain to the CRM
Once you’ve finished building your new site and you're ready to make it public, you'll update your domain settings so that it shows your CRM-built website instead of your old one.
Important: Once you update your domain, your old website will no longer be visible to visitors. Make sure your new site is ready before you switch over.
Need Help?
If you need help updating your domain, you’ll need to contact the company where you bought your domain name — like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains. They can walk you through how to connect your domain to your CRM site.
If you purchased your domain inside the CRM, reach out to CRM support for help with setup.
Final Tip
If you’re not sure whether to move your website or leave it where it is, start by exploring the website templates inside your CRM. You can begin building without affecting anything that’s currently live. That way, you can take your time and decide what works best for your business.
