Branded Domain vs. Website Domain
A quick way to tell them apart:
| Use-case Domain you’ll point |
System-generated links your contacts click (forms, surveys, calendar links, trigger links, invoices, review links, etc.) | Branded Domain |
Anything a visitor types into their browser to reach your public site, funnel, blog, or store | Website Domain |
1. What is a Branded Domain?
A branded domain (called the “API domain” inside The LSS CRM) is only used to white-label the links the platform generates automatically—so instead of showing something like abc123.genericlinks.com/…
, your links show go.yourbrand.com/…
.
Why bother?
Links look like they belong to you, boosting trust and click-through rates.
Consistent branding across every email, text, and calendar invite.
2. What is a Website Domain?
Your website domain is the address people actually type or click to reach anything public-facing—your main site, landing pages, funnel steps, webinar pages, blog, or store.
Because a website domain must resolve in a web browser, it usually points to an A-record at an IP address (and a CNAME for www
) rather than to the special branded-link host.
3. Do I really need both?
Yes, if you want full white-labeling.
Branded domain = cleaner, brand-matching links in every outbound message.
Website domain = the public address where your pages actually live.
No, if you’re fine with generic links. But most professionals configure both for a seamless brand.
Important: Don’t try to use the same root for both. Point different sub-domains instead—for example,
go.
for branded links and naked/www.
for your site. Using the same root will break one or the other.
4. How to Set Up Your Branded Domain
Pick a sub-domain you’re not using elsewhere (e.g.,
go.yourbrand.com
).In The LSS CRM:
Go to Settings → Business Profile → Branded Domain → Add Domain.Create a DNS CNAME at your registrar:
Host / Name Target
go
brand.ludicrous.cloud
If your registrar supports Domain Connect (GoDaddy, Google Domains, Cloudflare), the wizard can add this automatically. Otherwise, add it manually.
Save and wait for SSL to finish (green padlock). This is usually under 15 minutes, but can take up to 24 hours for slow DNS.
Test by copying any calendar or form link—the URL should now begin with
go.yourbrand.com
.
Tip: If you purchased your domain inside The LSS CRM, be sure to prepend
go.
before connecting it so you don’t overwrite your website domain.
5. How to Set Up Your Website Domain
Option A – Automatic (Domain Connect)
Sites → Settings → Domains → Connect Domain.
Enter
yourbrand.com
(orwww.yourbrand.com
).Click Authorize when prompted by your registrar.
Confirm; the required A-record and CNAME are inserted for you.
Option B – Manual
Same path, choose “Add records manually.”
The LSS CRM shows the exact A-record IP and any required CNAME/TXT.
Add those records in your registrar. If using Cloudflare, set the orange cloud to DNS-only (grey).
Wait for propagation, then refresh the Domains screen – the status should flip to Connected.
